Spiritual Attack Brings a Hopeless Outlook

In a series of prior postings I have communicated how a life threatening illness sent me to the emergency room where the doctors did not expect me to live through the night. Being close to death, my spirit left my body and I experienced the truth of our spiritual reality. I travel to and swam in the Lake of Fire (also called the second death) where I experienced the unimaginable horrors. I then went into Hell where I was confronted by Satan and experienced the incredible hatred that he has for me. Next I traveled to the Judgment Seat of Christ and heard the words from God that no one wants to hear, which were, “Why should you live?”

But I made a promise to God that I would be better if He would work with me. The next thing that I knew was that I woke up in the intensive care center. I had lived through the night but what was about to become clear was that the battle for my life was not over. My problem was an exploding pancreas was filling my body with digestive enzymes that are used to decompose meat. So in effect, my body was disintegrating from the inside out. To slow down enzyme production I was placed on a strict fast until such time as a more definitive direction could be made. Then my vocal cords became swollen and choked off my air supply and an emergency operation was performed. But now things were coming to a head and it looked like we were running out of options. Here is what happened.

By this time, I had gone without eating for almost three weeks although I had been on an IV for two of those weeks. Shortly after the bout of difficult breathing, I started showing improvement in my abnormally high enzyme levels. They had decreased from being hundreds of times higher than normal to only ten times normal. With this improvement, the doctors thought that I was ready to start eating again. They started me off very gradually with a soft and bland diet. Everything went well for about a week but suddenly my enzyme levels shot up dramatically again.

I was placed back on fasting until things turned around. When they did I was reinstated on the soft, bland diet. Unfortunately, my enzyme levels shot up again just a few days later. I was placed back on fasting once again being totally dependent on the sugar water IVs to which I was continuously connected to now. I had now lost over thirty five pounds since I had first entered the hospital. I had no more fat to live off of and the doctors did not want to see any more weight loss.

But then another problem popped up. The veins in my arms, legs, hands, and feet started breaking down. This meant that secondary veins had to be tapped for the IV feedings. This however resulted in less nutrition entering into my system each day. I could not eat without inflicting additional damage to my internal organs, and I could not get enough nutrition into my system to avoid starvation. Things were getting worse quickly and something had to be done soon. But what I wondered?

All of this was a direct result of the initial spiritual attack against me. Surly the devil wanted me to look at the circumstances and give up. He wanted me in a state of despair, but I refused to despair. Rather I kept a positive attitude and for some reason, maintained a belief that in the end all would be well with me.

But I made a promise to God that I would be better if He would work with me. The next thing that I knew was that I woke up in the intensive care center. I had lived through the night but what was about to become clear was that the battle for my life was not over. The problem was an exploding pancreas was filling my blood stream with digestive enzymes that were in effect, decomposing my body from the inside out. To slow down enzyme production I had to fast until such time as a more definitive direction could be made. This initial effort was having a positive affect when another life threatening attack was to hit me. It was a consequence of the initial spiritual warfare attack. Here is what happened.

One morning shortly after being moved out of the intensive care unit, I awoke having a great deal of difficulty breathing. I was unable to get sufficient air through my windpipe and into my lungs to sustain myself even though I was just lying in bed. Something was obviously restricting or blocking the airflow and as a result, I found it difficult to talk.

I notified the nurse’s station and was shocked when they considered my problem to be of no immediate importance. In fact, they took no action as they recommended that I wait for my doctor to come around on his normal rounds. Well, I had been in the hospital long enough to know that this could take several more hours and that it was also possible that the doctor may not show up at all. This situation was only getting worse with time and it seemed to be life threatening to me. It was definitely not something with which I wanted to take a chance.

So I called on family members to get a doctor’s attention immediately. They came through for me, and the doctor arrived shortly to examine me. He found that my vocal cords were swollen to the point that they were cutting off my air supply. He explained that my vocal cords were exposed to large quantities of digestive enzymes because of my vomiting when I first arrived at the hospital. If left alone, my vocal cords would have totally blocked my air passage and I would suffocate.

Oxygen was administered immediately, and a tracheotomy was scheduled for the following day. The operation required that a hole be cut into my windpipe below my vocal cords. This opening allowed oxygen into my airway even when my vocal cords closed completely. After the operation, I had a small metal pipe inserted into the front of my neck that ensured that the passageway remained open. This pipe was my lifeline to the air that I needed for the next several weeks.

In my next posting I will tell of another set back as the doctors attempt to put me back on a limited diet.

THE STENCH OF DEATH

In a series of prior postings, I have shared how a life-threatening illness sent me to the emergency room, where the doctors did not expect me to live through the night. After the doctors did all they could and left for the night, my spirit left my body, and I drifted closer to death. I then journeyed to where I would experience the truth of our spiritual reality. I traveled through space and time to the Lake of Fire (also called the Second Death), where I swam with the other lost souls there, enduring unimaginable horrors. After a time, God removed me and transported me to Hell, where the devil confronted me. I experienced the incredible hatred that he had for me as he tried to destroy me there. Next, God delivered me to the Judgment Seat of Christ, and I heard the words from God that no one wants to hear, “Why should you live?”

But I made a promise to God that I would be better if He would work with me. The next thing that I knew was waking up in the ICU. I had lived through the night, but what was about to become apparent was that the battle for my life and soul was not over. 

The Stench of Death 

It was at this time that I noticed that I was a very different person than I had been before going into the hospital. Of course, I was very sick and, as a result, in a state of funk most of the time. But it was more than not feeling well. One thing in particular was my excessively vulgar speech. Vulgarities seemed to flow out of my mouth with every sentence I uttered, and for some reason, I did not seem to care. Nor was I concerned about who it offended. I spared no one from my offensive speech—not my mother, father, or children. Even doctors and nurses were daily victims of my foul remarks. Things like the simple notes that I wrote to people contained vulgarity. It was so bad that it was even clear to me that something was amiss. I wondered to myself, why am I saying such awful things? It was obvious to everyone that my language had changed. 

The stench of death was still all over me from my journey in the spiritual realms of death. Oh, I was alive and, in this world, but death and evil still covered me like a blanket. My mind was also affected. My thoughts were of sensual pleasures and flirting with nurses. These actions were incredible for someone who might die any minute. I remember thinking, what is wrong with you? You’re so sick you cannot stay awake for more than an hour at a time, and you are considering these absurd thoughts?

In addition, the devil’s physical attacks were about to resume. In my next posting, I will communicate how I fought for my life being unable to breathe.

On day two of my hospital stay I could not have been any sicker. I remember thinking at this point that at least I was still alive. I spent the entire first week in the intensive care unit. Most of my time was spent sleeping—healing might be a better word. My doctors confirmed that my pancreas was the major problem. It had literally exploded by producing thousands of times the normal quantity of digestive enzymes. This over production caused such a great pressure on the inner lining of the pancreas, that it was pushed through the outer wall of the organ in much the same way an inner tube is forced through a weak spot in a bicycle tire. The doctors called the protrusion of the inner wall a pseudo-cyst. In addition, they considered it to be a very dangerous problem because it would eventually harden and break. In turn, this would result in the uncontrolled release of digestive enzymes into my blood which would have a disastrous effect on my body. The digestive properties of these enzymes are used by the body to digest dense proteins like meat and are not found anywhere else.

This is what had already happened. The pseudo-cysts had leaked extraordinarily high volumes of digestive enzymes into my bloodstream where they started to break down my body proteins. This must have been the reason for the numbness I felt. These pseudo cysts continued to slowly seep digestive enzymes into my system because my pancreas continued to over produce them. The result was that my blood, veins, arteries, muscles, nerves, organs, bones, and brain were disintegrating. Because of the continued over production of enzymes, my body remained under continuous attack.

My doctors told me that the pseudo-cysts danger was a ticking time bomb that would have to be defused before it was too late. Surgery was on their minds and in their hearts from the very beginning. But for now, I was not strong enough for any operation. My body needed to recover, and I needed to gain strength.

In the meantime, the doctors proceeded with a recovery strategy that focused on an abstinence from food. This approach was based on the fact that the pancreas is a digestive organ and only produces digestive enzymes when food is introduced. Through the elimination of food, my digestive system would be put to sleep and the over production of digestive enzymes would be stopped or slowed down considerably. This in turn would give my body time to cleanse itself of the toxins that were causing the damage. Throughout this process my blood was closely monitored to ensure that the enzyme levels were in a tolerable range. I made it through the first week without eating anything. After that, I was fed an IV sugar and vitamin solution.

The doctors said that this process was having the desired effect; my digestive system had been put to sleep, and I was gaining strength. While this was good news, I still felt very sick.

So at this point, we knew what the problem was and had a plan to address it. What we did not know was that the attacks were not over as I would suffer multiple setbacks while in the hospital over the next three months. I will tell you about these in subsequent postings as I present the chronological tale of events that transpired. But there is also a psychological impact from spiritual defeat. There was a stench of death that permeated by physical being and this is to be the subject of our next posting.

BACK FROM DEATH

In a series of my previous postings, I have communicated how a life-threatening illness sent me to the emergency room one night, the doctors expecting me not to live till morning. That night, being close to death, I left my body and entered the spiritual realm. I traveled through space and time, eventually entering spiritual Golgotha, where I swam in the Lake of Fire (MY JOURNEY TO SPIRITUAL GOLGOTHA and SWIMMING IN THE LAKE OF FIRE AND BRIMSTONE) where I experienced unimaginable horrors. 

After a time there, God mystically transported me to Hell, where I encountered Satan and felt his incredible hatred. It would have destroyed me had the Lord not sealed his feet to the ground. 

God then transported me again to the Judgment Seat of Christ, where the Lord asked me the question no one wants to hear from God: “Why should you live?” So, after much deliberation, I told God I would change, and I needed His help. The next thing I knew, I was back in the ICU, where all of this started. I lived through the night but soon discovered that my troubles were far from over. My life would continue, but now the devil had me on the ropes, and he was coming in to finish me off. He would repeatedly attack me in the hospital and even after I left several months later.

Many of his attacks afflicted my body with severe damage. In others, he tried to persuade me to have a major surgery that I did not need. His attacks afflicted my job situation and my relationships. When all else failed, he tried to kill me by choking me with his bare hands. In general, he invoked havoc in my life with a continuous wave of events designed to abort my future, determined to destroy the purpose of my life.

Jesus is the Light of the World

As strange as it may sound, I paid little heed to the Judgment Day messages of my experience then. The entire encounter was unbelievably horrifying and depressing. So, as much as possible, I blocked my thoughts of them and chose not to dwell upon them or their consequences. I rationalized them away as one terrible dream. I put all my thoughts and memories of this experience in a faraway place. Because of my decisions, I became blind to the devil’s attacks that followed afterward. I was about to experience the impact of living a life without the protection of God and with nothing to thwart the attacks of the devil. Therefore, I would become a human punching bag, not knowing I was in a spiritual warfare battle.

I believe that it is important to examine these events in the context of the Bible. By looking at these experiences from a biblical perspective we will learn that these events are a spiritual reality. They are not simply a bad dream as some may perceive them to be. As we proceed, I will reflect on my experience and validate and enhance it with scripture. In doing this I believe that the scriptures will bring to light fundamental messages that God has communicated to His people over the course of thousands of years.

In a previous postings (Judgment-Day, Reliving-my-sins-before-the-Judgment-Seat-of-Christ, and Gods-Question-on-Judgment-Day), I stood in a broad and peaceful place before the judge of the universe. However, I could not see anything because of the cloud like covering in this place.

The Judgment Seat of Christ

Since I was returned to the physical earth to continue my life, I was not judged and therefore did not suffer the second death. So the question becomes; to whom do I owe my salvation? Who sits on the throne of judgment?

And crying out with a loud voice, saying, Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb! (Revelation 7:10).

I was not judged deserving of the second death despite the fact that my garments were soiled with the visible stains of my sins. So the question has to be; who has the power to forgive sin?

But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins; He said to the paralytic, I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house (Mark 2:10 – 11).

Jesus heals the man at the pools.

I learned that there was only truth in the place where I was asked, “Why should you live?” But, who is it that judges the living and the dead?

I charge you, therefore, before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom (2 Timothy 4:1).

The answer is that Jesus the Christ of Nazareth is our Lord and Savior. I had made poor choices in my life but Jesus covered me with His blood and kept me from the fate I deserved, the second death.

Jesus Sheds His Blood on the Cross

This story provides insight into the meaning of our lives because it accurately describes the consequences of poor choices. I had made the poor choice of disbelieving in the existence of the devil and God revealed the truth to me. The truth is that the devil, hell, the lake of fire and brimstone, the judgment by Christ and the second death are the consequences of our poor choices. God, Jesus, heaven and life everlasting are the consequences of our good choices.

OK, so lets move on to looking at my experience in the lake of fire and later in the halls of hell where I faced the beast (Entering-the-Spiritual-Realm-of-Death, A-Journey-to-Golgotha, Inside-the-Lake-of-Fire-the-Second-death, Confronting-Satan-in-Hell). I knew that there was no way for me to escape these places on my own, so how did I get out? On the Judgment Seat I had faced the second death, but who has power over death; to let live or let die? The answer is Jesus! The following words from the book of Revelation are the words of the resurrected Jesus:

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of death (Revelation 1:18).

Jesus has the keys and can release whom ever He chooses from the lake of fire or from the bondage of Hell and the devil. This is because His victory on the cross defeated the devil and the power he had previously held over mankind.


In our next posting we will look to the bible to identify the judge who whom I pleaded for my life and avoided the second death.

As I stood in Judgment before God (see the last four hyperlinks above) it dawned on me that only truth existed in the place of judgment before God. I also somehow knew that the pending judgment before me had a consequence of the second death. A death that is a spiritual death that can occur after our physical death.

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Revelation 20:18).

I thought to myself that back in our natural world, I had no clue that such a thing even existed. If I had read the bible then I would have been aware of the following:

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” (Revelation 2:11).

This verse also applies:

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things, which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works (Revelation 20:11 – 13).

The second death is the end of hell and of death. The result is the total elimination of evil.

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death (Revelation 20:14).

There will also be an elimination of dying, pain, and tears. Sadly, there will be no more chance for repentance. There will be no chance for those whose name is absent from the Book of Life:

This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15).

But for the followers of Jesus, things will be much different.

Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. (Revelation 20:6).

Confirming the Existence of the Lake of Fire

To this point I have communicated things to you that by worldly standards are quite unbelievable. However, if one looks to the scriptures they will find that a vast majority of them are confirmed there. For a long time these experiences terrified me and as a result, I refused to think about them and certainly did not tell anyone. I really did not understand my experience until after I was born again and studied the scriptures that I understood what God had done for me. I was through these events that started to understand that God had a different plan for my life. His way of continuing our relationship was to show me the truth about the purpose of this life, myself and where my life choices were taking me.

What is certain is that God loved me enough to give me a second chance to make the right decisions about my life. I did not deserve this opportunity but He gave it freely out of His love for me. I knew that if He did this much for me when I did not deserve it, He would continue to bless me from that point as well.

Everything changed when I finally accepted the truth that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. When I did God placed favor in my life, and He became more real than I could have ever anticipated.

The purpose of this and subsequent postings is to communicate the results of my bible study, which confirms my entire out of body experience. As a byproduct, it also confirms the spiritual reality of why we are here on this earth and the consequences of our choices and actions. My plan is to present one component per posting until I have completed them all. The first to be addressed is: THE LAKE OF FIRE AND BRIMSTONE


THE LAKE OF FIRE AND BRIMSTONE

The Lake of Fire and Brimstone is the eternal destination for Satan, the beast, the false prophet, death, Hades and everyone whose name is not written in the book of Life:

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10).

In my out of body experience, the orange plasma that I swam in is a direct correlation to words of the prophet John, who wrote the book of Revelation.

The Lake of Fire is also filled with all of the soles who made poor life choices.

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

This matches my experience of swimming in the lake of fire where I experienced the pain that of that all the soles there had inflicted on others (Inside-the-Lake-of-Fire-the-Second-death). All were in agony for the evil that they had done.

In fact, the bible confirms that it is the final repository for all evil. It is the second death, which is a spiritual death, a permanent separation from God.

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:14-15)

This confirms my concern about the second death I experienced while others were searching for good works as I stood before the Judgment seat.

The Judgment Seat of Christ

The bottom line here is that if you don’t believe in Hell, the Judgment to come, or the devil, then think again. In fact there is something out there worse than Hell. It is a world on pain and suffering that is the continual reliving the pain that they caused others and It goes on forever.

POINTS FOR REFLECTION

This hospital episode was the catalyst that changed my life remarkably as I eventually surrender my life to Jesus Christ. At this point in my story the battle had only just begun however. It took a great deal more pain and suffering before I sought the protection that only God can provide. As you will find out, the path that God has led me down is quite remarkable and you will hear the rest of this story in time as I deliver my future postings.

Because I am a Christian, I believe that it is important to examine the events I have already reported to you in the context of the Bible. If you would like to go back and review these postings you will find hyperlinks to them here:

By looking at these experiences from a Biblical perspective we will find that what was perceived as just a very bad dream was not a dream at all because it is substantiated in the Bible, as proclaimed by God’s prophets. As we proceed, I will reflect on my experience and contrast it to scripture. In doing this I believe that the scriptures will bring to light fundamental messages that God has communicated to His people over the course of thousands of years.

CORRELATION WITH PSALM 30

As you know, on November 7, 1986 I entered the emergency room of a major hospital thinking that all would be well soon, unaware that death was knocking on my door. A similar correlation is found in Psalm 30 which is one of the Psalms of David. This Psalm gives thanks to God for delivering David from his foe, for healing him, delivering him from the grave, and saving him from being cast into the pit.

I believe that God did all of these things for me as well. Therein lays the correlation. Let’s start by reading a portion of Psalm 30:

I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, and have not let my foes rejoice over me. O LORD my God, I cried out to You, and you healed me. O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Let us praise God for His great mercy and love! Obviously, I totally relate to the message of this Psalm of David. In fact, I modified it to become my personal prayer of thanksgiving to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I present it here, so please read along with me in prayer and praise:

I will extol You, Oh Lord, for You have lifted me up, and have not let my enemy the devil, rejoice in victory over me. Oh Lord my God, I have cried out to You, and You have healed me from a great affliction of which there was seemingly no hope. Oh Lord, You have lifted my soul up from the grave of death and saved me from an eternal damnation I deserved. You have kept me alive, so that I would not be cast down into the lake of fire and brimstone, left to suffer the everlasting torture and agony of the second death. Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, and give thanks to the remembrance of His holy Name; His name is JESUS, THE CHRIST OF NAZARETH.For His anger is but for a moment. But His favor is for life forevermore; oh, weeping and sorrow may endure for a night, but joy everlasting comes in the morning and a new life begins. Amen.

Please know that this is the exact salvation that Jesus has won for those who believe in Him. Seek Him and you will find salvation in Him. Steadfastly seek Him knowing that those who continue to knock will have His door opened to them. This life is a battle ground that test your conviction in the Lord Jesus. Those who fight to the death will live again with Him in His glory forever. Seek Him with all of you heart, with all of your strength, with your whole mind and with all that you are and He will find you and be the rock of your salvation.
