The Morning Star Rising on the First Day

The Moral Dilemma of the Presidential Election

An interesting thing happened in the Vice Presidential debate a few weeks ago when the topic of abortion came up. Since both candidates are Catholics and the church is very clear regarding their doctrine of life, one would think that they would have the same policy about abortion. However, that turns out not to be the case.

Mr. Ryan, the Republican candidate indicated that his position aligned with the church. The major point being that: life begins at conception. Because of this view he stated that he would not support the continuation of the current policy of legalized abortion (except in cases of rape or incest).

Amazingly, Mr Biden, the Democratic candidate said that he was in alignment with the church and stated that he believes that life starts at conception as well. However, he then went on to say that he was unwilling to impose his views on others. As a result he supports a woman’s right to choose to abort her pregnancy.

Well, Mr. Biden I have news for you. If life begins at conception then how can abortion be classified as anything other than murder? And should murder not be prosecuted under the laws of this country?

James 1

New International Version (NIV)

26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

I would add that this includes taking care of the orphans who have parents who seek to destroy them. Oh, and by the way, this is not just an everyday murder we are talking about here; it is the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of the most completely defenseless of all humans. God hears the cry of the unborn.

Job 34

New King James Version (NKJV)

“For His eyes are on the ways of man, And He sees all his steps.  22 There is no darkness nor shadow of death  Where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. 23 For He need not further consider a man, That he should go before God in judgment. 24 He breaks in pieces mighty men without inquiry, And sets others in their place. 25 Therefore He knows their works; He overthrows them in the night, And they are crushed. 26 He strikes them as wicked men In the open sight of others, 27 Because they turned back from Him, And would not consider any of His ways, 28 So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him; For He hears the cry of the afflicted. 29 When He gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when He hides His face, who then can see Him, Whether it is against a nation or a man alone?— That the hypocrite should not reign, Lest the people be ensnared.

Christians and all people of God, please consider the morality of these candidates when it comes time to exercise your vote. If you believe that life begins at conception as do many other God-fearing people, then your vote must be a reflection of your faith.

Ask yourself, do we rely want someone who is so morally bankrupt that he would not interfere with the mas-murders of thousands of innocent children? And if they are ready to stand by and do nothing when children are being murdered then what would make anyone think that these people would care about the murder of any of us?

If we were to vote for this person, what would that say about us? Would we then not be complicit in this sin? Should we not do everything we can to keep this sin from coming upon our nation?

May God’s blessings be upon you and your families,

Papa Joe
