Jesus is the Ark of the New Covenant
We plan in this and subsequent sections to present evidence that substantiates Jesus as the Ark of the New Covenant, replacing the old Ark and old covenant in a far superior way.

Priest Before The Ark Of The Covenant
Over the course of several presentations we will demonstrate that Jesus had a very close relationship with the Father and that angels frequently ministered to Him. These things of course are the fulfillment of Tabernacle prophesy in that they reflect the relationship established with God before the Mercy Seat (directly above the Ark of the Covenant) in the presence of the Golden Cherubim (Angels).
We will also present information that supports the notion that all of the items found inside the Ark of the Covenant are displayed more perfectly in the life of Jesus. This means that in Him we find a perfected law, one that is based on the changing of one’s own heart rather than simply following the letter of the law. It means the in Jesus we find a perfected provision and favor in the sacrifice of His body and blood for us. In Him we find a perfected priest hood in the order of Melchizedek. This priesthood eliminates the need for continual sacrifices at the Tabernacle by providing a single but perfect sacrifice of His life on the cross.
A very important point in all of this is that Jesus brought perfection to the Tabernacle that was otherwise imperfect in that it was made by man. He accomplished this by demonstrating His attributes and character with His actions and words. The Tabernacle was built as place for God to dwell among His people. It was however, built based upon the design specifications provided by God and therefore represents a model of the perfect Tabernacle that was to come, Christ Jesus.

Jesus and Moses at the Transfiguration Discuss the Fulfillment of the Tabernacles Prophesy
So, in support of the proposition that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Tabernacle built by man we offer the following examples:
1. The Covenant Stones containing the commandments of God that are housed in the Ark of the Covenant are simply laws carved in stone. Jesus on the other hand is the perfected law that is written on the hearts of men. What this means is that the practice of blindly following rules is greatly inferior to a change in heart that eliminates the desire to do evil.
2. A second point of support for this proposition is that Jesus provides us with a more perfect priesthood. Jesus eliminated the need for continual animal sacrifices by replacing them with the single, but perfect sacrifice of His own body and blood on the cross.
3. We also find a more perfect Ark of the Covenant in that the Promised Land of Canaan is replaced with the more perfect New Jerusalem that came down from heaven. Therefore, Jesus is the Ark of the new covenant which is far superior to the old.

The New Jerusalem
We know that Jesus is the Ark of the new covenant for two reasons. First, because He, Himself said that He was, and second, the actions of God support His claims directly. Let us start with a scripture that documents Jesus’ statement about being the new covenant:
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Matthew 26:26-28)
These words He spoke before His suffering and death on the cross. His body and His blood were the price that God paid for the forgiveness of our sins which enable the reestablishment of our relationship with Him. His shed blood replaces the blood sacrifices that had previously covered the sins of the people in a far superior way, in that they are not just covered, they are forgiven. Therefore, the blood of Jesus became the new covenant and Jesus is the Ark of it:

Jesus on the Cross
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come; In the volume of the book it is written of Me; To do Your will, O God.’ Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:1 – 22)

Jesus at the Tomb
In our next posting we will discuss Jesus as the Fulfillment of the law. Until then, may God bless you and yours!

Joe,
I loved your article about Jesus and the New Covenant. I am a born-again Christian and am currently fighting the good fight of faith. I have been struggling with something, however, and I have a question for you since you seem knowledgable about this subject. Do you believe it is still possible to find the old Ark of the Covenant? If so, do you believe you can die from touching it? The fact that this might be possible has bothered me and I wanted to know if you think God would forgive someone for touching it. Thank you
Thanks Chris for your kind words and for your great questions.
I will start by saying that the following answers are my opinion only and there are most likely many other Christian opinions out there.
If you have been reading my posts you know that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Tabernacles prophesy. In fact, Jesus was a far superior substitute for each and every component of the Tabernacle, including the Ark. This is why I have stated that Jesus is the Ark of the New Covenant, the one that is founded on His body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins.
With this said we have to ask ourselves the question; “Of what use is the old covenant to God?” Well, I am one who believes in a loving and compassionate God. One who understands that people do not comprehend the things of God very well.
I believe that the Jews are wrong in that they missed the Christ the first time around. For the Jews the covenant that was represented in God dwelling with them in the Ark still exists. Since I also believe that Jesus is that Ark and all of the other components of the Tabernacle, I believe that the missing artifacts of the Tabernacle are no coincidence. Jesus is the Tabernacle for everyone, weather they recognize Him or not. So I believe that a the loving and compassionate Son of God (Jesus), hears their prayers, forgives their sins and offers them an everlasting opportunity to live in eternity with God. This is because I believe that God still honers His covenant with them.
So, is it possible that the Ark still exists? Yes, I think that it is possible. If it did show up would someone die because they touched it? This answer is a bit more difficult.
Why would someone die who touched it? Because it is the place where God dwelt. Did the craftsmen die who made it? No, because God did not inhabit it until after its completion. God is Holy and we are not. God is spirit and we are flesh. It is written that man can not look at the face of God and live. Even Moses, who talked directly with God, could only look upon God’s back, not His face. We are here in flesh form so that we can choose between good and evil, as this was the choice of our ancestors. God can not coexist with evil, so if we who all have done some evil touch Him, we will cease to exist in this earthly form. If we have gone into the Tabernacle of Jesus and achieved a relationship of covenant with Him, being able to enter the Most Holy Place as the High Priest did, then I expect that we would be able to touch the Ark and Live. One thing that I do know is that very few people are able to achieve this level of relationship with God.
I hope this helps to answer your questions.
Look at John’s vision as described in the book of Revelation (11:19-12:1, remember that the chapter and verse numbers are not in the original) – he saw the Ark in the Heavenly Temple – a woman clothed with the sun, about to give birth to the Child who will rule the nations: Joe is right about Jesus being the Word, the Bread and the Priest, but it is Mary who carried Him in her womb who is the Ark.
I believe that the Jews are wrong in that they missed the Christ the first time around.
THE JEWS ARE NOT WRONG. THEY HAD NO CHOICE. GOD INTENDED THEM TO REJECT CHRIST. HE CAME TO DIE. GOD PLANNED A WAY FOR THAT TO HAPPENED. “GIVE US BARABAS!” THEY WERE ‘FIXED’ TO NOT RECOGNIZE HIM. BUT THEY WILL KNOW HIM JUST BEFORE THE SECOND COMING.
Isa 6:9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
Isa 6:10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
Isa 6:11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, \\
Mt 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Mt 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Mt 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Joh 12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
Joh 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
Joh 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
Joh 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Ro 11:7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
Ro 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
THERE WERE SEVEN THOUSAND LEFT TO COME BY GRACE AND THE REST WERE BLINDED. Mt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Re 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Re 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
THEY’RE FINISHED WITH THEIR TESTIMONY. THEY’VE PREACHED THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM WHICH IS THE GOSPEL CHRIST PREACHED, THEY’VE BEEN DEAD FOR THREE DAYS, THEY’VE RESURRECTED AND ASCENDED TO THE FATHER…WOW..THE BLINDERS ARE NOW OFF THE EYES OF THE REMNANT,,,THEIR EARS ARE OPEN….THEY HAVE WITNESSED THE TRUTH OF MESSIAH AND ARE GIVING GLORY TO GOD. NOW THE EARTH STARTS TO QUAKE.
Re 11:13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
Could I have permission to post the picture of the ark in heaven on my Facebook page? Thanks!

Yes, the war in heaven rages with the comming of Jesus.
Reference the following scripture: Math 11: 11
“Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. 13
Hello,
I work on the subject of the Heavenly (New) Jerusalem in art history. Actually I’m in the process of collecting the material, including mosaics, paintings, wall frescos and glass windows.
On your site I found an fascinating painting, with the subtitle “The New Jerusalem”.
Do you know the artist and the year, when this painting has been made?
I look forward hearing from you; Sincerely yours, —C. Bernet
Sorry, but I do not know.
