The Initial Attack
In our previous posting we introduced our new section that is to deal with the spiritual warfare. More specifically, it will introduce the subject by revealing my personal experiences over almost ten years. In today’s posting I will open things by sharing an unexpected and brutal spiritual attack that occurred at a time in my life when I did not even know that I was in a spiritual battle.
The day that this event occurred started out as a day of expectation. I was schedule to go to a rock concert with a group of friends and we were all excited about it. This excitement was dampened a bit by my low energy level. I was strangely tired again on that day just like I had been for several months. This traditionally would have been very uncharacteristic of my normally high energy self. I had also noticed that after dinner each day that my face would flush red and my temperature would rise. I also had gained about thirty pounds over a six month period. I was very concerned about all of this and had gone to the doctor to have it checked out, but despite performing all sorts of tests they could not find anything wrong with me.
The evening of the concert, I met my friends at a restaurant for dinner and drinks. I really was not hungry but, for some reason, I had Mexican food anyway. The after effect of the combination of spicy food and beer made me feel bad. It gave me a heavy feeling in my stomach. We left the restaurant and walked across the street to the concert hall. The concert was excellent. We had very good seats, and the music and performance were the best I had ever seen. Yet, I wasn’t in tune with the good time everyone else was having. I was getting very sick to my stomach. I tried to delay the inevitable but eventually had to leave my seat to go to the restroom to vomit. I remember thinking as I returned to my seat that the Mexican food may have been bad. My condition did not get better over the course of the evening. I had to leave several more times for the restroom. When the concert was over, my friends wanted to go out for drinks but by this time, I had started to develop very sharp abdominal pains, so I uncharacteristically declined their invitation and drove home instead.
It was a thirty minute drive home and by that time, the abdominal pain had gotten very extreme. In fact it was so bad that I could not even stand up straight when exited the car. The best that I could do was to lean substantially forward at the waist to minimize the pain.
The family doctor was called and his recommendation was to drive to the hospital emergency room immediately. Ironically, the trip to the hospital took me back to within a block or so of the concert hall I had left just an hour or so before.
The initial attack of spiritual warfare had been executed and the result was that I was a casualty. Of course it is not obvious at this point in time that my condition was the result of a spiritual attack, but this connection will be become clear in my future postings. At this point the battle has just started and as you will soon find out I will be attacked repeatedly in the days, weeks and months ahead. Our next posting will address what happens in the emergency room and my initial prognosis.
Until then, God bless.
