WHO IS THE BRIDE OF CHRIST?
In our prior posting I communicated that I attended a prayer meeting in which I spiritually became one with the bride of Christ. Later, as things were to unfold this experience proved to be critical in the development of what God wants us all to be a part of during our remaining time hear on earth. In essence, this prayer group experience becomes a corner stone to the vision communicated in the book, “Possess the Vision.” Because of all of these facts, and since we plan to present this vision to you in later postings, it would seem appropriate at this point to delve into the scriptures and glean additional insight into who the bride of Christ is.
The bride is the cumulative body of Christ, formed of the redeemed of the Lord:
But, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all things into Him who is the head; Christ; from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love (Ephesians 4:15 – 16).
This statement ties in with my prayer meeting experience when I perceived the bride to be the accumulation of all the righteous of the Lord into one body, wherein each person is like a single atom of that body. Each individual has its own function and purpose but is at the same time is linked together will all others, such that they function as one body toward the accomplishment of the Lord’s mission.
The bride is pure and holy. She is a gift to God, perfect in every way:
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:25 – 27).
This statement also ties in with my prayer meeting experience as I experienced the bride preparing herself for the union with Jesus. She did this by making her garments perfect and pure and by meditating on all the reasons that she is in love with Jesus.
Jesus spoke to His disciples about the bride in the following passage:
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know. Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:2 – 6).
In this passage Jesus states that He will come again and take His disciples into Himself. Therefore, the two become one and this is symbolic of marriage where the two are proclaimed to be one. Since Jesus also describes the building of many mansions in the statement above, there must be enough people to occupy these many mansions to comprise the entire city of the holy Jerusalem, which is clarified in the scripture below:
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, ”Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God (Revelation 21:9 – 10).
So the bride of Christ is the holy Jerusalem that descends out of heaven from God. This passage confirms that the Lamb (Jesus,) has a wife and therefore is married. In our next posting we will drill down a bit into the bride’s preparation.
”WONDERFUL MESSAGE.,GOD BLESS YOU ALL1
i think the people who are in the church is jesus pure brid even the people who beleive in jesus is the bride of jesus
Thanks for your comment.
Lots of people believe that the church is the bride of Christ. I just don’t happen to be one of them. Sorry, but not everyone in the church will be a part of the bride of Christ. There are mass murderers who attend church one a regular basis. We have church leaders who have been guilty of stealing church funds and property. There are lots of people in the church who lead secret lives. Jesus will choose who is a part of His bride. He will look at how our life choices reflect our love for Him. I quite sure you can not get in by simply going to church.
May God’s blessings be upon you,
Papa Joe Gordon
Bibically i think that debbie means the church, as refrenced to in the bible, the church is everyone that believes and accepts Jesus as their Savior. Does God judge us by our sins? Are we subject to how many sins we have commited? When we accept Christ his blood that was shed for ALL of us and his blood covers our sin so that we are holy and pleasing to God. God does not judge by good works, can good works outweigh our sins?
And you are correct in the fact that you cannot earn salvation by going to church but where you are sorrowfully wrong is that God will not look at our life to see how “our choices reflect our love for him” in 1st and 2nd Corinthians it tells us the old has gone and the new has come, God will not look at our livs and see how we were, he looks at us and sees who we are. We are the bride of christ. The husband takes on his wife, read th book of Hosea it shows us that a true husband is faithful to his wife no matter how many times she is unfaithful to him ( just like god) the husband will unconditionally love her. Yes the church has been corrupted and abused but we are still Gods children, His love is deeper than the sea.
I am sorry but some of your arguement are not scriptual. You say that we are not judged base on our works but the bible states:
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (Revelation 20:12 – 14)
I wrote about my personal experience in the following posting: https://possessthevision.wordpress.com/2010/10/06/opening-the-books-on-judgment-day/
In addition, the book of James states that faith without works is dead. If our faith is dead how can be be a part of the bride of Christ? Of course we could still be members of the church! If our faith is dead upon what basis can our sins be forgiven?
Also, please rember that the virgins who allowed their lamps to go out were not allowed to enter the wedding feast. The lord said, “I do not know you”.
Our choices to do the will of God validate our faith and define what we are. It takes more that words and belief. This is probably one of the most understood topics of our Christian faith. But like I said earlier, it is also true that we can not simply do work to get into heaven. The work must be done out of the love in our hearts. God knows the difference, and this is what seperates the goats from the sheep.

Yes they are judged by there works. But is not accepting Christ and being baptised a work? And yes you are correct where James states that what is faith without works and true it is nothing, but he means good works, like helping out someone who needs help, “mourn with those who mourn”
And the Man had rejected the ten virgins because they did not prepare themselves for the darkness ahead and were easy to fall into temptation because they had not filled themselves with the eternal light. And in Revelation it says every soul will rise, not just christians, that means that those who did nou live a perfect life? The bible says that just one sin will not allow you to enter the gates of heaven. That was why Jesus was born from a virgin because God had cursed the seed of Adam. ” for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of the father.” ~Romans 3:23 If someone did not accept Jesus sacrafice for them then they shall not be in the book of life, but if they accepted his sacrafice with an open heart then you are saved eternally. Can you also please see the part in the Bible where the sinner who is by Jesus when they are on the cross. The sinner says “i believe you are Christ” then jesus says “today you will be with me in paradise” the book of Hosea has allot of insight on this. Thx ~hope
